Geared Toward the PG Crowd
Richie McMahon may be a grown man but a childlike excitement comes over him every October. He with the help of his kids, wife and neighbors decorate his Peppermint Lane a Haunted Home for Halloween. Long Island is known for over the top decorations but McMahons really needs a visit if you live in the area.
“I do it because I love to see the kids enjoy it, parents and grandparents enjoy it as well,” he explained. McMahon and his wife grew up in Commack and he says it takes a month to put his house at 4 Peppermint Lane together.
“Every year I get hundreds of people visiting, the word is out,” he shared. He says it all started out when his daughter was young and when he saw how much people enjoyed his decorations, he kept buying more.
“We have a walk-through Haunted House (inside) and it’s definitely P.G., it’s scary but not too scary for the little ones,” said McMahon. The Halloween aficionado says the neighborhood kids call it The Chop Shop Horror House. “Halloween is on Friday this year but we’ll be open all weekend for visitors,” he stated. McMahon says the more the merrier. “It’s a group effort and I have great neighbors who help out,” he ended.
