Sunday night is the start of Red Carpet madness, with the 74th Annual Golden Globes. We’re so excited that we even compiled a spectacular pinterest board for party ideas and entertaining inspiration just for the occasion. Whether you’re staying in or heading to a fun viewing party, add a little Metallic glamour to your evening by baking up something deliciously Golden for dessert. We tested out the top three Golden Globe Winning desserts, that took less than an hour to make.
Golden Globe Winning Donuts
- 1 box of your favorite cake mix
- 1 Egg
- 1/4 cup of vegetable oil
- 1 cup of water.
- Donut pan (we used Wilton’s 6-cavity doughnut pan, available at Target)
Powdered Sugar Mixture
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
- 1 tablespoon of Metallic sugar sprinkles (we used Wilton Gold Pearlized Sugar Sprinkles)
Preheat the oven to 350. Use cooking spray or shortening to grease the donut pan. Add all of the ingredients into a large mixing bowl. Use an electric beater to mix all of the ingredients together until well combined. Pour the batter into a pastry bag (no decorating tip) or substitute with a ziploc bag with one corner cut off. Pipe the batter into the greased donut pan filling each cup halfway. Bake at 350 for 12 minutes. Remove from oven and let cool in the pan for an additional 10 minutes. While the donuts are still warm, immediately toss with powdered sugar mixture on both sides. Serve immediately… best when still warm!
Golden Globe Cake Pops
Cake Pops
- 1 8 oz box of cream cheese
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons of Nutella
- 1 14.3 oz box of Oreo cookies, finely crushed
Icing:
- 12 oz bag of Wiltons White Chocolate Melts
- 2 tablespoons of Vegetable shortening + extra tsp. for rubbing
- Edible gold decorating dust (we used Wilton’s Gold Pearl Dust)
- 3 to 4 drops of gold food coloring (yellow will work too)
In a mixer, beat cream cheese for a minute or two. Add Nutella and Vanilla to mixer and beat until the batter is silky. Next add the Oreo Cookie crumbs to the mixer and beat on high until the mix forms a thick dough like shape. Using a large ice cream scooper, spoon one ball at a time. Roll the scoop of dough into a ball and set aside on a cookie sheet with parchment paper. Repeat until all the dough has been used. Refrigerate the cake balls for an hour or until ready to decorate. After removing from the refrigerator, use your fingers to gently rub a light layer of vegetable shortening around each ball. This will make working with icing much easier.
For the Icing: Melt white chocolate chips with shortening in the microwave. Dip each pop stick in the white chocolate and insert the dipped end into the cake balls. Set aside. Add a few drops of gold (or deep yellow) food coloring to the white chocolate and stir until well combined. Dip each ball into the white chocolate mixture, rotating the stick around in a 360 degree motion, to keep excess from dripping. Either place down on a sheet of parchment to dry or use a Styrofoam base to stick the pop stick into. The second method assures a circular accuracy. Once dry, dust a light layer of the golden pearl dust onto each cake pop. Arrange or wrap in treat bags and enjoy!
Golden Popcorn Globes
- 6 cups Kettle popcorn (microwave or store bought popcorn)
- 2 teaspoons cold water
- 3/4 cup light corn syrup
- 1/4 cup margarine
- 2 5/8 cups confectioners’ sugar
- 1 cup marshmallows
- 4-6 oz White chocolate melts
Over medium heat, combine cold water, corn syrup, margarine, confectioners’ sugar and marshmallows in a saucepan, stirring gradually until the mixture comes to a boil. Remove from heat and drizzle the hot mixture with the popcorn, folding with a spatula to coat each kernel.
Grease both hands using shortening. Quickly shape popcorn into palm size balls before the mixture has time to cool. Set each ball on a cookie sheet with parchment at room temperature. Melt white chocolate in microwave according to package directions. Use a spoon to drizzle white chocolate on each ball. Immediately sprinkle Gold sprinkles over each popcorn ball and let dry. Serve as is or wrap in a treat bag.
