Suffolk County Police have arrested a Bohemia man for Driving While Intoxicated after he was involved in a crash that killed a husband and wife Sunday night.
On Sunday, April 3rd, at approximately 9:03 P.M. Medford couple, William Kear, 67, and his wife, Joanne Kear, 66, were struck by a drunk driver when they made a left turn onto Ocean Avenue from Lakeland Avenue.The husband and wife were attempting to travel north on Ocean Avenue in their 2014 Chevrolet pickup truck when their vehicle was struck by a 2012 Audi A4, operated by Kyle Glinka, 23, who was travelling southbound on Ocean Avenue in Ronkonkoma.
William and Joanne Kear, of Medford, were transported to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue where they were pronounced dead from their injuries.
Glinka, of Lafayette Avenue, Bohemia, was transported and admitted to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Glinka was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated.
Both vehicles have been impounded for safety checks and the investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone who may have witnessed this crash to call the Major Case Unit at 631-852-6553.
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
