Election 2014 Painted the Town Red

Election 2014: A Race Won by The People

The most seasoned Political Analysts, the media and Candidates alike were surprised with Election 2014. It wasn’t the end result, but the statistics between parties that befuddled and contradicted popular opinion. The people of Long Island were heard loud and clear… Red is the new black.

The race between Lee Zeldin and Tim Bishop was considered to be a photo finish dogfight by experts.  However Lee Zeldin’s Victory by 10 percentage points in Suffolk County drove his win into high gear, sending a clear message for change to Washington.

Nesconset Native John M. Kennedy’s 53/47 victory against the chairman of the Suffolk County Water Authority, Democrat Jim Gaughran for Suffolk County comptroller was a surprise to speculation, given the $800,000 spent on slanderous attack ads by the Democratic Party.

While the big guns were called in for endorsements and egregious amounts of money went into nasty campaign tactics, this election was won by the people. Which makes Election 2014 a historic moment in history.  A time when we shut off the voices on the Flat screen and stopped listening to everything except our own gut.  The Candidates who came out victorious have a much greater responsibility at hand.  They’ve won the initial trust of the people and must follow through with promises to keep our faith.
