Place the ribbon at the very bottom of the vase. Fill the vases with pastel eggs or your favorite Easter ornaments at various depths per vase to create a polished look.

Peter Cottontail

easter diyFill a dollar store planter tin with cat grass, found in most pet stores and various grocery chains. Most craft shops and dollar stores will also have Easter Bunny Ear headbands which you can simply insert into the soil.  If you prefer to make custom ears, you can download any pattern you like off the internet (here’s one). Cut cut four strips of your favorite fabric according to the pattern. Fabric should be facing right sides together.  Pin and sew around the entire ear leaving half an inch along the bottom open. Turn your ears right side out. Use a pipe cleaner as wire. Push it gently through the bottom and through to the top, Leaving 2 inches of extra wire/pipe cleaner at the bottom of the ear to stick into the planters soil. Sew the bottom edges closed so that the excess wire is positioned in the middle of the ear. Repeat steps for the second ear. Cut two pieces of felt for the inner ear and glue onto the sewn ears. Add embellishments or glitter to personalize. In a few days the grass will grow and you will have an original Easter/Spring accent the kids and grown ups alike will relish.

Spring Bulbs

easter1Break out your grandmothers set of boiled egg holders and put them to beautiful use.  Use bulbs that do not need soil to grow, like mini Daffodils, Paperwhites and Hyacinths. Add enough water to cover the lower portion of the bulbs without submerging them. Display the bulbs in a glass bowl or shallow pot, using pebbles to cover the roots while they grow. Once they’ve sprouted up, move each flowering bulb into the Egg holders or leave them to bloom together.

April Shower Flowers

easter2Use a large umbrella with a tasteful pattern to match your Spring Decor. Pick out your favorite silk flowers from the craft store, like hydrangeas and tulips.  Arrange them to your pleasing and insert them into the umbrella. Tie a pretty ribbon halfway down the umbrella fabric, to help hold the wires from your floral arrangement together.  Add embellishments like ornamental eggs or birds to the flowers. Hang on the door instead of a wreath.
