Smithtown High School West anti-bullying “Follow Our Lead” campaign ends the year with a bash

At the start of the school year, Smithtown High School West organized an anti-bullying campaign, “Follow Our Lead.” The goal was to educate students about the dangers of bullying in their community.

In an effort to spread the message throughout the entire school district, students at Smithtown High School West organized multiple events including an anonymous anti-bullying writing campaign, a Zumba fundraiser, an anti-bullying coloring page activity to engage the elementary school students, and the Best Buddies holiday party.

DECA is an international business club that prepares members with skills for the 21st century. As a whole, DECA “prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe.” At Smithtown High School West, DECA is the largest club on campus. Each year DECA West holds a number of school events including the Harlem Wizards game, Safe Halloween and Bowl-a-Thon. In addition to running the school shop, DECA West participates in community based events such as Mike’s Hike and Sweetbriar Halloween Festival.
