Smithtown High School West student Jesse Damm and Smithtown High School East student Morgan Suchy recently received first and second place, respectively, in an essay contest conducted by the Daughters of the American Revolution Anna Smith Strong Chapter. Jesse Damm was awarded first place and Morgan Suchy was awarded second place. Each student received a pin, certificate, and a monetary award.

To be considered for this prestigious honor, Jesse Damm and Morgan Suchy had to be nominated by teachers as students who demonstrate the qualities of a good citizen. Each of the students then submitted their respective transcripts, letters of recommendation, a personal essay and a written response to an essay prompt to the Daughters of the American Revolution Anna Smith Strong Chapter.
