On Saturday morning, August 15th Legislator Leslie Kennedy and a number of Boy Scout Troops will do their part to clean up the Nissequogue river. The Clean the Stream initiative is an annual event, originally hosted by Husband and predecessor, Former Legislator John M. Kennedy. Now in it’s third year, Leslie Kennedy, will honor the noble project, by removing debris and pollution in a nearby Nissequogue River tributary, with Boy Scout Troops 3, 539, 214, 349, among others.
Cleaning up the Nissequogue River is vital in preventing stormwater flooding, ecological balance and restores stream flow. Together, Legislator Kennedy and local scouts will remove the branches, debris and other heavy damage left in the wake of last weeks storm. In addition to natural debris, the group will remove pollution and repair obstructions within the tributary.
