Calling all hep cats and dillinger dolls! Get ready to lace up your best dancing shoes, put on your finest digs and get ready to do the Lindy Hop all night long. Beginning next Tuesday, May 19th, 2015 Long Island’s swing sensations; The Bay Big Band will perform at the Elks Lodge in Smithtown, every third Tuesday of each month, jumpin’ off at 8pm.
The 18-piece Big Band, known for mitt-pounding, original musical arrangements of Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey and Benny Goodman classics, also performs a vast array of iconic Swing, Jazz and Pop songs. The group of professional musicians, music teachers and avid players was founded 15 years ago with a common passion, to play the classic melodies of a bygone era. The Bay Big Band starred and performed in the Award-winning (Best Long Island Short Film – LI Expo ’06 & Warner Bros Film Award ’05) NYU short; They Say It’s Wonderful, directed by Mitchell Kase. If you love the songs from performers like Frank Sinatra, Bobby Darin, Sarah Vaughn, Ella Fitzgerald, Sammy Davis Jr. & Michael Buble, you’d be remiss not to see The Bay Big Band perform at the Elks Lodge.
Performances are open to the public, free of charge and take place at 8 P.M. every third Tuesday of the month at the Smithtown Elks Lodge. Dancing is welcome and certainly encouraged.

The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks is a 141-year-old fraternal order made up of nearly one million members and a network of more than 2,000 lodges in communities throughout America. The organization is a charitable foundation that supports scholarships and works with youths and veterans. The Smithtown Lodge is located on a former estate of three landscaped wooded acres. It houses two floors of meeting rooms, lounges and a banquet room. The lodge features on-site catering and a camping grounds for Elk members.
