A handicapped accessible trail along a 67 acre NY State Department of Environmental Conservations property, in Kings Park, was created this past summer, for the community. A sanctuary where locals, hikers, birders, dog walkers and nature enthusiasts alike can enjoy many of mother natures miracles, we tend to take for granted in this digital era which we live in.
Some time in the recent past a parking lot sign, stating the DEC has approved archery hunting, has locals concerned for the safety of all those who use the trail, which includes students who use the path to walk to school. Does this mean errant arrows whizzing past walkers along the trail? What safety measures will be taken to prevent accidents of catastrophic measures?
The Kings Park Civic Association is asking concerned community members to call the offices of Senator Flanagan and Assemblyman Fitzpatrick to voice concerns.
The phone numbers for each office are: Senator Flanagan (631-361-2154) Assemblyman Fitzpatrick (631-724-2929)
