Legislator Leslie Kennedy (R-Nesconset) hosted her BloodFest blood drive and food drive in conjunction with Long Island Cares, Wednesday outside of her office in the North County Complex. As part of the BloodFest, Leslie Kennedy’s office held an outdoor cookout for those who donated blood. Food for the cookout was donated from various restaurants and businesses throughout Smithtown and the surrounding area.
Suffolk County’s very own IT band, made up of employees from the Information Technology department came to entertain those who came to take part in BloodFest. Every participant who attempted to donate blood will be receiving two complimentary Mets tickets in the mail.
BloodFest had a successful run this week with 49 pints of blood gathered, as well as food collected for Long Island Cares. “I am so thankful for everyone who made BloodFest possible, I want to thank New York Blood Service, Long Island Cares, all the local restaurants and businesses that donated food and supplies, and of course everyone who donated lifesaving blood to the cause” said Leslie.
Legislator Kennedy’s office will have their next blood drive on Sunday, September 6th during the Ronkonkoma Street Fair; it will be located at Hawkins Ave in Ronkonkoma.
