The Smithtown Animal Shelter’s Pets of the Week are Posey and Ren, a pair of five month old Domestic Shorthair kittens who want to love an owner just as they love each other. Posey is a female Tabby cat with brown and white fur, and Ren is a male with orange fur. These two babies are bonded siblings who can’t get enough of each other.
Posey and Ren might be a little shy at first, but once they open up to you they are extremely affectionate and playful. Posey has shown to be quite a fearless cat, and Ren likes to cuddle up with his much braver sister for protection.
Statistically, the older a cat is, the more difficult it becomes to place them in a good home. Our hope is to find these beauties loving families while they’re still kittens.
Currently, there are a variety of male and female cats & kittens available to adopt or foster. If you are looking for a fun loving, yarn tossing ball of love, stop by the Kitten Nursery or the Cat Condos at the Smithtown Animal Shelter and find a PURR-fect soulmate or two!
All of the felines at the Shelter are current on vaccines and have received a full workup (blood work, Feline HIV & Leukemia tested, physical exam etc.) by a board certified Veterinarian.
Thinking About Adoption:
The Smithtown Animal Shelter’s primary concern is finding the perfect home for each animal that finds his/her way to them. The Animal Control Officers at the Smithtown Animal Shelter will go out of their way to ensure both the rescued and rescuer are made for one another. If you have other pets, you can arrange to bring your four-legged family member into the shelter, or can set up an at home meet & greet to see how your prospective new addition does with other family members, pets, or the household itself.
Walk-In Hours at Smithtown Animal Shelter are currently Monday – Friday 8AM – 4:30 PM and Saturday 8AM – 3:30PM. (Sunday’s: by appointment only). To inquire about the Pet of the Week or to meet your potential soulmate, please call the Smithtown Animal & Adoption Center at 631-360-7575.
