65 Rookie Suffolk County Police Officers Graduate

County Executive Bellone and Commissioner Webber presided over the Suffolk County Police Academy Graduation Today

Sixty-five Rookie Police Officers, will join various agencies throughout Suffolk County after today’s graduation. The ceremony, presided over by Commisioner Webber and Suffolk Executive Steve Bellone, was held at the Staller Center for the Arts, Main Stage Theatre At Stony Brook University this morning. 24 of the graduating officers will dispatch to various departments including Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office, Riverhead Town Police Department, SUNY Stony Brook Police Department, Southold Town Police Department, Southampton Town Police Department, New York State Attorney General’s Office, Northport Village Police Department, East Hampton Village Police Department and East Hampton Town Police Department.

The graduating Academy class included 11 former military service members and 29 graduates with law enforcement experience in various agencies. Vigorous academy training includes a 26 weeks academy program designed to meet the ever changing demands of present day law enforcement. Recruits must complete over 1500 hours of instruction on relevant topics from emergency medical training, firearms, crash management, defensive tactics and emergency driving to domestic violence, mental illness and criminal law.
