St. James Fire Department Presents the 35th Annual St. James 5 Mile Run & 3.5 Mile Striding Event First Responders Team Race
The 35th Annual St. James 5 Mile Run & 3.5 Mile Striding Event is this Saturday April 15th from 9:00 – 11:00 AM. The tradition of a run, for generations of Smithtown residents, is hosted each year by St. James Fire Department’s Engine Company No. 3. The five mile run and 3.5 mile stride events run along the pristine Head of the Harbor and St. James Harbor.
Many runners, who have participated in previous years, know first hand that this five mile fun is filled with plenty of rolling hills along the Harbor Road route. Luckily, runners can monitor their progress at every mile mark along the traffic controlled, medically supervised course. A large digital clock will be displayed at the finish line for runners to view time and place. ( Times will be posted at the Firehouse, in addition to a complete listing to be published in the Smithtown News.) Spectators are welcome to watch and applaud near the historic St. James General Store or along the finish line.
The first 300 entrants will receive a T-shirt, so be sure to arrive promptly. Runners who missed the pre-registration date, can register before 8:30 for $30. All checks should be made out to St. James Fire Department- Engine Co. #3 (yes, it is tax deductible). All proceeds from the run, go to benefit Local Firefighters Burn Center Foundations and Engine Company No. 3.
After the race, all are invited to attend the Award Ceremony and post race party, at the St. James Fire Departments Main House. Awards will be given out to the first place overall for Male, Female, Firefighter and Police officer. Awards for the top three finishers in the Team Race (combined time for Suffolk County and First responder trophy) and first, second and third place awards will be given for Male and Female winners in each age group division. Additional Awards will be given for 2nd – 5th Place in the Firefighters and Police categories.
